Prof Irit Bahar is the Chief of the Ophthalmology Department at Rabin Medical Center, Petach Tikva, Israel. She is a full clinical professor at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine in Tel Aviv University with more than 110 papers published so far, 20 case reports and three book chapters. Prof Bahar is involved in many national and international studies in the field of cornea and external eye diseases. Her main research focuses on lamellar corneal transplantation techniques, innovative artificial corneas, treatment of corneal neovascularization and advanced anterior segment surgeries. Prof Bahar is involved in the organization of many national and international meetings and presented her research as an invited speaker in leading ophthalmological conferences.
Prof Bahar completed her fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the Toronto Western Hospital in the years 2006-2008. She has a master’s degree in health administration (MHA) from Ben Gurion University and she serves as the medical director of Assuta Optic Laser Center in Tel Aviv.
